European Artistic Craft Days - Workshop with Marine Leparc

Marine Leparc is a professional thatcher specializing in thatch roofing since 2020. She obtained a diploma in Heritage Restoration in 2022 and trained in Denmark under master thatchers before founding her own company in 2024. She also served for three years as Coordinator of the French National Association of Thatchers and contributed to the development of the BâtiRoseau project supported by ADEME. 

Her work is grounded in a conservation approach, prioritizing the use of local materials, reuse, and the maintenance of existing structures. She also supports projects at the design stage, providing guidance and expertise to architects and project managers, and delivers training sessions for architects across several regions in France in collaboration with Carole Lemans (Architect, PhD in Architecture). In parallel, she develops an interest in artistic approaches to thatch, exploring the connections between traditional craftsmanship, contemporary creation, and architectural forms. This is reflected in her project Histoires de Chaume, which documents professional journeys and highlights both traditional and innovative techniques
