This seemingly innocuous photograph reveals the many types of work going on in the studio. It shows the Swiss sculptor Edwin Bucher (1879-1968) pausing in his work as Bourdelle’s praticien on the Dream marble, which is gradually emerging from the block of stone. It is just possible to make out the figure of Eve, translated into marble by Bourdelle at Rodin's request, in front of the large window panes that flood the image with light. It is clear from this shot that the work was entrusted to Bucher himself. How work is delegated in the sculptor's studio...
